Parenting is hard. Parenting with your kids in front of you is tough. Parenting long distance sometimes feels impossible.
My kids are blessed to have the opportunity to make memories with a parent who loves them so much- it’s just hard when it’s the other parent and not me. I have to remind myself that just as my family looks different, so do my parenting experiences. It’s always the kids moving between parents, like students 👨🏽💻👩🏻🎓who switch classrooms between morning and afternoon classes📚
Being without my kids for an extended time has me empathizing with them, how it must feel to leave a parent, miss them so much and not have any choice in the matter. I always tell my kids that our family is like a baseball team⚾️⚾️; it has all the same players in it, we’ve just switched the positions around a bit.
I have to work twice as hard when my kids are with me for them to feel secure in my love when they’re away, but I have to remind myself that my love is stronger than distance and stretches further than the kilometres between us. ✈️💕💕
